Robert Blosser

Juls:     Thanks for coming tonight everyone! Please give a warm welcome to our guest host tonight, Robert Blosser! Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap! Robert why don't you start us out tonight by telling everyone your favorite way to catch walleye?

Juls:     hi dtmg, lileye, and 620

AllenW:     Join Room

robert:     well I would say handlining

lileye:     hi

AllenW:     Howdy all

620:     hello

Juls:     no way!!! really???

robert:     lol

Juls:     heheh

fish-n-hunt:     Join Room

Juls:     everyone always says "jigging"...lol

robert:     just something special about that wire

robert:     jigging is 4 those that cant handline lol

brandonprasnicki:     I saw you were anti jigs lol

Juls:     Ok, now that we have a nice crowd gathering...I'm going to turn it over to all of them. Hopefully everyone has read your Twenty Questions interview and has some questions for you

robert:     fire away

brandonprasnicki:     what is handlining exactly? I've heard a couple people saying that

Juls:     great question!

robert:     wow where to start

Juls:     this could take up the whole hour...hehehe

Juls:     spring loaded self retrieving reel....and go from there

brandonprasnicki:     once when I was a kid my reel broke and I 'handlined in a big blue gill'

Juls:     lol

Juls:     same thing

Bryon Schloemer:     LOL

robert:     it is a cable with a heavy weight on the bottom that allows the use of two or more baits to be presented in all depth of water, with bottom contact remaining at all times

Juls:     sweet...he can type fast too

robert:     whew

brandonprasnicki:     oh ok...

codymathues:     Join Room

brandonprasnicki:     yeah I guess I've seen that before... I don't think we can do that in MN

Juls:     what size cable do you use? is it coated wire?

Juls:     yes you can Brandon

robert:     only on trollable waters

robert:     yes plastic coated cable

Juls:     best done where there is current...rivers mainly...but we have done it here on lake erie on the reefs too...shhhhhhhhhh wink wink

brandonprasnicki:     you can? I thought there was a limit on amount of hooks per line

Juls:     do you use the 60# coated wire on your reels too Robert? Do you use the close faced reels or the open face reels?

robert:     with handlining u can run as many baits as legal.... I've done up to 3 at 1 time

robert:     I use the open faced

Triton HWA:     Join Room

robert:     made by Rivera

Juls:     4-Oct

Triton HWA:     hello all

Juls:     hi Triton

robert:     hey triton

Bryon Schloemer:     So when running lead core how many colors do you put on your reel?

codymathues:     which one of u guys is the pro?

Juls:     Robert

brandonprasnicki:     so I see you are big lead core guy... what depths do you usually fish, and what is your arsenal to handle different situations... (oh and see Bryon's question) :)

Triton HWA:     lileye is the pro at bs

robert:     I run 10 colors on diawa sealine 47's

robert:     18 lb test

robert:     depths.... any where over 10 feet

brandonprasnicki:     right off the side or with boards?

robert:     if I am contour trolling I use a 10' and a 5' rod right off the boat

brandonprasnicki:     cool thanks

robert:     if I am fishing suspended fish, then Offshore boards

brandonprasnicki:     then with 10 colors are you clipping right onto the leadcore to adjust your depth?

brandonprasnicki:     to the boards

robert:     yep most of the time, just cant send the boards a mile off the boat

robert:     if I'm locked in on a specific depth then I will go to segmented lead and clip the boards to the mono backing

brandonprasnicki:     perfect... that is a big help

Juls:     I guess if you like to handline the most...then it's safe to say you prefer river fishing to lake fishing?

Bryon Schloemer:     how long of a leader do you run off or the lead and what type of line do you use?

robert:     I will use a 6 foot leader in a river and a 50' leader in the clear great lakes. Using 20lb flo

codymathues:     what river do you mostly fish

codymathues:     ?

Juls:     what's the most fun you've ever had while fishing? Besides punching Joe Okada in the face...;)

robert:     mostly the Wisconsin river and lake Wisconsin

codymathues:     do u ever fish the Missouri?

brandonprasnicki:     ok I just googled segmented... Juls was trying to drill this through my head last time... segmented is lead, mono, lead, mono (for those like me who didn't know)

Juls:     wait till you read his "comeback" to that in the next article... lol

robert:     fishing with my wife for salmon, gotta love the big kings aka screamers

robert:     he ain't got nothing on me lol

brandonprasnicki:     (not just the different colors)

robert:     what else

Bryon Schloemer:     Join Room

robert:     what are you doing Byron??

robert:     lol

Juls:     this is going to be a short session if no one has any questions for Robert...this is your chance to pick the brain of one of the most talented "young guns" on the pro circuits

Bryon Schloemer:     Brandon sent me the link he was looking at

Bryon Schloemer:     dork!!!!

robert:     how good was it?

Bryon Schloemer:     me that is

Bryon Schloemer:     haven't looked at it yet

codymathues:     what kind of boat do u run Robert

Juls:     What are you planning on fishing this year, Robert?

robert:     I will be running a 2010 Ranger 621 with the new Yamaha 300 offshore

robert:     as of right now I will be fishing all the AIM events

Juls:     Safe to say Ranger and Yamaha are sponsors...who are your other sponsors for 2010?

Juls:     Will you fish any MWC events too?

robert:     maybe a MWC..Joe O keeps twisting my arm

Juls:     ahhh there ya go. I think you two would kick butt together

Juls:     but he and his dad make a great team too

Bryon Schloemer:     So I see that you fished Cass lake in mn last year, bran and I fish that lake alot any tips?

sst169:     Join Room

Juls:     what about your dad...can you ever drag him away from the Pro Bass fishing to team up with you in a walleye team event?

brandonprasnicki:     how did you get your  first sponsor?

robert:     other sponsors.....Mack's, Columbia, Bushnell Ford, Pro Mariner, Offshore

robert:     He is actually done fishing and is starting a new adventure....retirement

Juls:     nice....:)

robert:     Cass lake.... not my strong suite lol BIG CHUBS

brandonprasnicki:     so what is the deal with you and jigs... do you NEVER use them? Did they do you wrong?

brandonprasnicki:     abusive relationship?

AllenW:     I'm assuming you use jigs with some sort of plastic attached to them, over all you fine attaching live bait to it helps or hinders in walleye fishing?

Juls:     what? You don't like those super steep drop offs? Hahaha

robert:     no, I do jig. just don't find it as fun as some other presentations

AllenW:     such as?

robert:     wow that was bad spelling lol

Juls:     don't worry about typos....grammar...whatever...we know what ya mean

Juls:     we all make them

robert:     such as , handlining or lead core

brandonprasnicki:     ok

AllenW:     Thanks

robert:     but when its a good jig bite, that thump is a great feeling

codymathues:     what do u see as the down fall with cranks

codymathues:     what do u look for as far as depths or breaks

Juls:     how much actual fishing do you do on the first day of prefishing on a new body of water?

Bryon Schloemer:     What do you look at on the internet?

AllenW:     Maybe how long on a spot and how many different baits before ya move?

Juls:     hi Kurt

fish-n-hunt:     what are you fishing out of this year?

kurt bergstrom:     hi Juls

robert:     hard ? to answer Allen all depends on what I feel

Juls:     1/2 hour to go....

AllenW:     OK, what's the longest you'd spend on a unk spot?

robert:     Fish-n-hunt ...Ranger 621 Yamaha 300

Juls:     do you ever "leave fish to find fish", and if so...what is that determining factor that makes you leave?

codymathues:     that's a sweet rig, my dream Robert

robert:     if I have a limit I will leave little fish to find big pigs

robert:     but most of the time NEVER leave fish to find fish

Juls:     do you think year classes swim together and differently from other year classes?

Red's first:     Join Room
